Chestnut Grove is situated along a private drive in a quiet residential area of Lostock Hall, close to motorway links and main bus routes. It is registered for twelve residents with the Care Quality Commission. Chestnut Grove offers care for both male and female residents over the age of sixty-five.
There is always at least two care staff on duty from 8am to 10pm including a Manager and or a Senior Care Staff. From 10pm to 8am there is always one member of staff on duty along with the Manager or Senior Carer on the premises.
Residents right to choose what they want to do is respected at all times. Residents can get up when they want and go to bed when they want. Residents can choose to do whatever they want to do providing they are not putting themselves or other residents in any danger.
The home has twelve single rooms on two floors. All rooms comply with minimum spacial standards for an existing home. A stairlift provides access to the second floor. However there are three steps to negotiate at the top of the stairs, making the second floor unsuitable for wheelchair users. We are therefore unable to care for people with mobility difficulties on the first floor.
The ground floor rooms can accommodate wheelchairs and the communal areas can be accessed easily, particularly as the main fire doors are fitted with magnetic catches, enabling the doors to remain in a secure open position.
We are therefore able to offer care to a wide range of people, including people who have a disability or a mild level of dementia providing we are able to meet the required needs.
Chestnut Grove would particularly welcome residents from the minority sections of the community and is committed to meeting any specific cultural or emotional needs.
The home has a spacious lounge overlooking a large lawned garden bordered by Chestnut Trees and shrubs. The garden and furniture are easily accessed through the front door, back door or directly from the residents' lounge. There is also garden furniture to the front of the property for residents use. These facilities are accessible for wheelchair users.
Integral to the lounge is a TV area with Sky television, this overlooks the side garden, which is accessible through the back door and has a ramp fitted.
The dining room has seating for twelve people on three tables. A drinks cabinet is maintained for residents use. Meals are provided throughout the day as follows:
Breakfast: 8am - 11.15am
Lunch: 12noon - 1.30pm
Tea: 4.30pm - 5.30pm
Supper: 7pm - 9pm
Meals can be taken in the dining room or in the privacy of the resident’s own room.
Drinks are provided throughout the day at any time. Menus are arranged through consultation with residents. We use local produce and all dietary requirements can be catered for including diabetic diets or diets for cultural needs.
Each room has a sink, bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table, overbed lamp, bedside lamp, curtains, mirror and armchair. All rooms are decorated to a high standard and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in items of furniture, pictures and ornaments. All rooms have a Freeview TV/DVD player.
Privacy and dignity of the resident is paramount, particularly in their own room. No member of staff will enter the resident’s own room without the express permission of the respective resident.
