Social activities including parties, entertainment, and outings are regularly held. Each afternoon, diversional activities are offered to the residents. “A what’s on at Chestnut Grove” poster is displayed on the picture board in the hall. These activities range from events held inside the home to trips out to places such as the theatre to watch the amateur dramatics productions. Everyone is welcome to attend any of the events, including relatives and friends.
These events are organised by our in-house Activities Co-ordinator.
The in-house hairdresser visits each Wednesday. Residents can invite their own hairdresser into the home if that is their preference.
The chiropodist visits every eight weeks, usually on a Monday. Nails are manicured every two weeks by Emma and more often if required by the staff.
We also have internet WIFI throughout the home, two IPads and an ‘Alexa’ which is accessible for all residents and relatives to use in the lounge.
Newspapers. The home receives daily papers and evening newspapers for general use. Residents are able to order their own separate newspaper if required.
St Saviours, Church of England, visits every month for Holy Communion.
St Mary’s Brownedge RC Church provides communion the first Wednesday in the month and an Ecumenical service is provided every Sunday morning. Residents can also attend St Catherine’s Hospice each Thursday for their service and transport can be arranged if required.
The home has an electric piano/organ which anyone who can play is welcome to use.
Each morning a Senior Care Staff member will see each resident individually with regard to their welfare and well being in the home and their needs. Each afternoon, the care staff gathers with the residents in the lounge and discuss the days' events, social activities, requests for teatime and issues regarding the running of the home, etc.
